BIG, Copenhagen Flames invited to FLASHPOINT Global Qualifier

BIG and Copenhagen Flames have been invited to compete in the LAN qualifier for FLASHPOINT, the tournament organiser announced on Friday.
The invited duo will join the six teams who came out of the regional online qualifiers for a LAN stage that will be held at the FACEIT studio in Los Angeles from March 3-5.
BIG were initially due to play the European FLASHPOINT qualifier but withdrew from the tournament after being invited to the LAN event. The German side, who won DreamHack Open Leipzig last month, turned to FLASHPOINT after losing their ESL Pro League spot following the tournament's highly-controversial decision to reduce the number of teams from 48 to 24.

Copenhagen Flames broke into the top 30 in the world rankings for the first time this week after coming through the fourth open qualifier for the Europe Minor. The Danish team is led by former SK and Heroic member Asger "AcilioN" Larsen, who is reportedly in discussions with c0ntact, one of FLASHPOINT's franchise partners.
Meanwhile, FLASHPOINT has announced that Isurus' slot at the Global Qualifier will be filled by DETONA, who finished in the third place in the South American closed qualifier. The Argentinian side opted to skip the event in Los Angeles as it clashed with the South American closed qualifier for the Americas Minor.
This means that DETONA will have to withdraw from the Minor qualifier, in which they would be unable to field star player Vinicius "vsm" Moreira due to his disqualifying VAC ban.
The FLASHPOINT Global Qualifier will feature a double-elimination, best-of-three bracket, with the top two sides advancing to the main league, in which they will join the ten franchise partners. The complete team list for the event is the following:
